Privacy policy
What this website does with your personal data, in plain English. Last updated 2 November 2026.
Who I am
I am Edward Eaton, a sole trader trading as Edward Eaton Marketing, based in St Annes, Lancashire. I am the controller of the personal data collected through this website, which means I decide how and why it is used.
You can contact me at edward@edwardeatonmarketing.com or on 07817 574416.
What I collect, and why
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), what you need help with and any message or budget details, plus the page you sent it from | To reply to you, and to discuss working together if you want to | Steps at your request before a contract, and my legitimate interest in answering business enquiries |
| Emails, calls and messages you send me | To respond and keep a record of the conversation | Steps at your request before a contract, and my legitimate interest |
| Analytics, only if you accept cookies: pages visited, device and browser, approximate location and how you found the site | To see which pages are useful and improve the site | Your consent |
| Technical logs from my hosting provider, including your IP address | To deliver the site, keep it secure and fix faults | My legitimate interest in running a secure website |
I do not collect payment details through this website. I do not sell your data and I do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies until you choose. If you press Accept on the banner, Google Tag Manager loads and Google Analytics sets two cookies. If you press Reject, nothing is loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor from another so visits can be counted | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_VYNP1NZGLL | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | Up to 2 years |
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name eem-consent so I do not ask again on every page. It is not a cookie and does not identify you.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Choosing Reject there removes the analytics cookies from this site.
Who I share data with
- Web3Forms, the service that receives the enquiry form and passes it to my email.
- My email provider, which stores the emails you send me and the enquiries that arrive.
- Netlify, which hosts the website and keeps technical logs.
- Google, for Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, only if you accept cookies.
These providers act on my instructions. I do not share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. Where that happens, I rely on the safeguards the provider has in place for UK data, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK's approved standard contractual clauses.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: I delete them within 24 months of our last contact.
- If we work together: I keep the enquiry for the length of the work, and I keep business and tax records for as long as the law requires, which is generally up to 6 years.
- Analytics data: it is kept for a limited period set in my Google Analytics account and then deleted automatically.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:
- tell you what personal data I hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data;
- restrict how I use it, or object to me using it;
- give you your data in a portable format; and
- stop using it where I rely on your consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before.
To use any of these rights, email me. I will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. I would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Work for clients
When I run ads for a client, I handle the leads those campaigns generate on the client's behalf and under their instructions. That is covered by my agreement with each client and not by this policy, which is about this website only.
Children
This website is for businesses. It is not aimed at children, and I do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I use personal data, I will update this page and the date at the top.
